# Onboarding

Let's get started on your mobile app journey!

To help you onboard, let's go through a quick overview of the **five key steps** to build your mobile app. Each step will be explained in more details in their corresponding pages, but but below is a brief description of what each step entails and how it contributes to your app building journey.

<details>

<summary>1. Create your first app draft</summary>

In this first step, you'll name your app and select a theme template. The theme serves as a head start for the layout design, providing a pre-built structure that helps guide your app’s design. It’s an easy way to kickstart the look and feel of your app without starting from scratch. You’ll be able to customize the theme later to match your brand’s unique identity, ensuring a smooth and efficient design process.

</details>

<details>

<summary>2. Design your app (with live preview)</summary>

Refine your app's design by customizing the layout, colors, fonts, and visuals. Use the live preview feature to see changes in real time, allowing you to tweak every detail until it’s perfect.

</details>

<details>

<summary>3. Customize app translations</summary>

Make your app more accessible to a global audience by adjusting translations and adding additional languages. Tailor the app’s text translation to ensure users from different regions can navigate your app with ease.

</details>

<details>

<summary>4. Set up your app feature</summary>

Enhance your app with essential features like **unlimited push notifications**, **wishlist**, and **product reviews** integration via **Judge.me**.

* **Unlimited Push Notifications**: This feature is so important that it has its own section for detailed setup. Push notifications will help you stay connected with your customers by sending unlimited updates, promotions, and alerts directly to their mobile devices.
* **Wishlist**: Let users save their favorite products, providing a convenient, personalized shopping experience.
* **Product Reviews (via Judge.me)**: Build trust with customer reviews and feedback, helping future customers make informed purchasing decisions.

And many more features to come in the future!

</details>

<details>

<summary>5. Send us a request to publish your app</summary>

Once you're satisfied with your app, submit a publishing request. Our team will process it within 48 hours (excluding weekends and holidays).

You'll receive the app via your store email address for final review. Upon your confirmation, we'll submit your app to Google Play and/or the App Store.

Google and Apple typically take 2-3 days to review the app, though it may take up to 7 days. If approved, your app will be available for download on their app market platforms.

</details>

Feeling overwhelmed? Don't worry! Our handy setup checklist is here to ensure you won't miss a single step on your app-building journey.

# Add new app draft

Don't limit your creativity & resourcefulness to just one app draft. Add as many as you need!

An app draft is essentially a version of your app(s). Each app draft can be different from one another from basic settings, design to features.

You can utilize app drafts to store different app ideas/concepts, or prepare for special versions of your app in advance without affecting your live version.

Now, let's delve into how to add a new app draft!

#### **Step 1**

You have three different ways to create your app draft.

**Option 1**: Via our **Homepage**, Click "Create your first app draft" from our Homepage.

<figure><img src="/files/j89aR8ewUqoe0Fu3ZEw3" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Option 2:** Via our **App Studio**, click "Add new draft" to start creating a new app draft.

<figure><img src="/files/vsgyyEShuWJXftrjkZlo" alt=""><figcaption><p><strong>Option 1.</strong> Via App Studio</p></figcaption></figure>

**Option 3:** Via our **Get Started** checklist, click "Create your first app draft" from . Please note that this option will not be available after you have created your first app draft.

<figure><img src="/files/xbqhc1BBlcD92BZfcgsw" alt=""><figcaption><p><strong>Option 2.</strong> Via <strong>Get Started</strong> checklist.</p></figcaption></figure>

#### **Step 2**

Think up a name for your app draft! It can be the official name for your final app, or a name to distinguish the draft from others. It should be 30 characters or less. Click Create app to confirm your app name.

<figure><img src="/files/AN9DTQm41LjIftt17ZBq" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Step 3**

Choose a suitable theme for your app. A suitable theme can save you a lot of time in setting up the app, as you no longer need to think too hard about what your app layout should be.

<figure><img src="/files/KEk2dQdKzUxlvRZQKk9I" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Please keep in mind that every theme has a preview for you to check & consider before choosing. Click on the eye icon to see the theme preview.

After choosing the theme, if you are redirected to the page below to start with your app design, you have successfully created an app draft!

<figure><img src="/files/19SyWLwLuIazg6rLTokf" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### 1. App media

App media consists of three key visual assets for your app: app logo, app icon, and feature graphic. These assets help define your app's branding and appearance on Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

#### App logo

Feature graphic is a promotional banner displayed at the top of your app's Google Play Store page on larger screens, such as desktops or smart TVs, to convey the app’s essence and capture user's attention. This is part of Google Play's required app listing contents, so make sure to upload this banner! You can upload and crop your icon image based on the recommended size 1024 x 500 px or above with similar ratio.

### 2. Splash creen

<figure><img src="/files/GqpU4MfKjKYbRUKiY1DO" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/zvKlDE6bc5xJJvdgndAD" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You can select from our system fonts, or upload fonts used for each language.

<figure><img src="/files/uoep9vQRfVBMGV91gZP4" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In addition to our system fonts, you can upload a custom font of your choice. The uploaded font will be stored in **Uploaded by you** section. We currently accept Google Fonts in .ttf or .otf file formats. Please note that:

* Only one custom font can be stored at a time.
* A manually uploaded font **cannot** be previewed in the demo app and requires a new app version to take effect if changed.

<figure><img src="/files/B07OL7zzHZwcoqAchbFy" alt=""><figcaption><p>Disclaimer: Some metrics here are not yet available in our Beta version</p></figcaption></figure>

## 🎯 Why use Analytics

Understanding how your app performs is crucial for making informed business decisions. With the Analytics feature, you can monitor key metrics like installs, sales, and user engagement to optimize your marketing and product strategies.

***

## ⚙️ How to set up

### 1. Create a Firebase project

First, create a new project with your app name at [Google Firebase](https://console.firebase.google.com/u/0/).

<figure><img src="/files/rDT7gB6OWVl0Afi7q29S" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If your app has already been published, you’ll still need to send us another **publish request** so we can submit the updated build with Analytics enabled.
{% endhint %}

***

🎉 **Congratulations!** You have finished setting up the Analytics feature. Once your app is updated, kindly go to the Analytics tab in the SimiCart app to see the metrics show up as new data comes in.

***

## 📊Understanding your data

In this version, you can track the following core metrics:

### **📥 Installs**

**What it means:**\
The total number of times your app was installed on iOS or Android devices within the selected time range.

**Why it matters:**\
A high install count shows that your app is attracting new users. Track this to evaluate how well your marketing and promotions are working.

### **💰 Total Sales**

**What it means:**\
The total revenue generated from purchases made through the app during the selected time range.

**Why it matters:**\
This metric shows how much your app is contributing to your overall sales. It helps you assess the impact of app-exclusive deals, campaigns, or design changes.

### **📱 Sessions**

**What it means:**\
The number of times users open and actively interact with your app. A new session starts after 30 minutes of inactivity.

**Why it matters:**\
More sessions mean higher engagement. If sessions drop, consider ways to boost usage—such as sending notifications or highlighting new content.

### **🔁 Returning Customer Rate**

**What it means:**\
The percentage of customers who came back after their first visit during the selected time range.\
**Formula:** Returning customers ÷ Total customers.

**Why it matters:**\
A strong return rate means your app provides enough value for users to come back. This reflects customer satisfaction and helps measure retention over time.

***

## 💡 Tips

Use these tips to make the most of your analytics data:

* **Track install trends after promotions**\
  Launching a new campaign or offering discounts? Check your **Installs** to see if the campaign is driving new users to download your app.
* **Monitor sales during peak times**\
  Keep an eye on **Total Sales** during holidays, flash sales, or when launching new products to understand what drives revenue.
* **Increase session count with push notifications**\
  If your **Sessions** are low, consider sending timely push notifications to re-engage users with updates, offers, or back-in-stock alerts.
* **Improve retention with loyalty features**\
  A low **Returning Customer Rate** may indicate that users don’t see enough value to return. Try adding app-exclusive content, loyalty programs, or post-purchase follow-ups.
* **Compare metrics over time**\
  Use different date ranges to spot trends and seasonality. Is performance improving month over month? Are users more active on weekends?
* **Use multiple metrics together**\
  For example, if installs are high but sessions are low, you may have onboarding issues. Combine insights for a fuller picture.

* **Delivery schedule:** You can schedule a message up to 30 days in advance. The timezone in which the message will be sent is based on your operating system's time.

  Select **Specific time** to set when the notifications should start sending.

<figure><img src="/files/jLr4p2ipt4irF741WXB0" alt=""><figcaption><p>Click <strong>Save</strong> to send or schedule your push notification.</p></figcaption></figure>

After clicking **Save** to send or schedule your push notification, you'll be redirected back to the **Push notifications** dashboard, where you can see and manage all of your created notifications.

On the upper right of the page, you will see two buttons: **View global report** & **Create new**.

If you want to create another push notification, click **Create now.**

If you want to check high-level reporting on the overall performance of your push notifications campaign, click **View global report.** For more details regarding the report, please refer to this [article](https://documentation.onesignal.com/docs/analytics).

<figure><img src="/files/nTkcGzmYexlMzFEcBwnf" alt=""><figcaption><p>Click "Create new" to create a new push notification. Or click "View global report" to check the high-level report on the effectiveness of your push notifications strategy.</p></figcaption></figure>

With each push notification, in the **Action** column, you have the option to either **duplicate** the notification settings for a new one to save time, or **view report** on the performance of the chosen push notification.

<figure><img src="/files/9GYDpPGuwuIxJ85e2hXN" alt=""><figcaption><p>In the Action column, choose "Duplicate" or "View report".</p></figcaption></figure>

When viewing report for each push notification, you can check the following statistics:

**Delivered:** The number of messages that were sent from OneSignal to the Push Servers (Google (FCM), Apple (APNS), Huawei (HMS), etc.). This does not necessarily mean the devices have received these notifications.

**Click-Through Rate:** Click-Through-Rate (CTR) is measured by (total clicks/delivered) \* 100%

**Delivery Statistics:** Provides feedback on how the message performed via 5 delivery statuses of your push notifications:

* *Delivered:* As mentioned above.
* *Remaining*: The number of devices that have not received the notification yet. These would be for notifications sent using Timezone optimizations.
* *Unsubscribed*: A failure reason. The number of devices that were unreachable and likely due to being unsubscribed from push notifications. Once a device has been detected as unsubscribed, it will be marked as unsubscribed and future notifications will not be sent to it unless it re-subscribes to notifications again.
* *Failed*: The number of devices that did not get a notification due to an error.

  These errors are typically caused due to one of the following reasons:

  1. Your OneSignal Application Settings are incorrect.
  2. These tokens belong to an app that does not match your OneSignal settings.
  3. Some other backend error occurred.
* *Capped*: The number of notifications that were not sent due to your OneSignal frequency capping settings.

**Message Settings:** Provides basic configuration of your push notifications including title, message, sending time, and launch destination.

# Sign in with Google and Apple

Allow customers to log in to your mobile app quickly using their existing Apple ID or Google account.

<figure><img src="/files/11DMwoFA7Z42GEwjXFIU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## :dart: Why use Sign in with Google and Apple

If you are a Shopify Plus merchant who uses Legacy account mode, this feature eliminates friction from the login experience by allowing users to access your app with a single tap without remembering or typing passwords.

* Existing customers can sign in instantly using their Google/Apple account associated with their current email address.
* New customers can register just as quickly via either a Google or an Apple account. When they later log in to your online store, they can simply use the **Forgot password** option to set one.

This will lead to faster onboarding, increased sign-up completion rates, and fewer abandoned sessions. At the same time, it leverages the security and trust of Apple and Google’s authentication systems, helping to protect user data while providing you with cleaner, more reliable customer accounts from day one.

## 📌 Prerequisite

✅ **Before proceeding, make sure:**

* You are a Shopify Plus merchant
* You use Legacy customer account mode

* Make confident, faster purchase decisions

***

| -------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Enable toggle** | Turn this ON to show a label when a discount is applied |

| **Position on card** | Choose where the label appears on product images (e.g., bottom left, top right) |
| **Label text color** | Customize the label text color to match your store theme |
| **Label background color** | Choose a bold color to make the sale label stand out (e.g., red for urgency) |

| Field                      | Description                                                             |
| -------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Enable toggle** | Turn this ON to show a label for out-of-stock items |
| **Label text**             | Customize the message (e.g., `Sold Out`, `Out of Stock`, `Unavailable`) |

# Publish

This is where you provide all the necessary information for us to help you publish your app on App Store & Google Play

<figure><img src="/files/3oAz1KaQHtzUVuJ6vxqr" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## 1. Select publishing account

To publish a mobile app on the app market, a developer account is necessary, which involves an annual fee of $99 for iOS and a one-time fee of $24 for Android.

But even if you don't have one, need not worry! We highly recommend you to publish under SimiCart's developer account, as it is the most convenient and cost-effective option. In case you still prefer to publish under your own account, you can learn how to set up one [for iOS](https://developer.apple.com/support/app-account/) or [for Android](https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/6112435).

If you already have a developer account of your own, that's great! Please invite our emails, which are <androidteam@simicart.com> (for Android) & <help@simicart.com> (for iOS), as admin with access to all Additional Resources so we can help you publish your app.

## **2. Select app market**

App market is where your users can find & download your mobile app. Currently, the most popular app markets for Android & iOS devices are Google Play Store & Apple App Store respectively. You can choose to launch your app on each of these markets, or both based on your store's current needs.

## 3. Short description (for Google Play Store)

Provide a short description of your app, which is going to be displayed on Google Play Store. Users can then expand it to view your app's full description. This description should not repeat any sentences in the full description. Limited to 80 characters.

## 4. Description

Provide an engaging description that highlights the features and functionality of your app, since it'll appear on your App Store product page. You can change this description every time you submit a new app version. For further guidance details, please refer to [this documentation.](https://developer.apple.com/app-store/product-page/)

## 5. Keywords (for App Store)

Choose keywords based on words you think your audience will use to find an app like yours to make sure your app is discoverable on App Store's search results. Limited to 100 characters total, with terms separated by commas and no spaces.

## 6. Support email & Support phone number

These contact addresses will be displayed in your mobile app's listing page on your chosen app market(s). Your customers can use them to contact you & your store.

## 7. Privacy policy URL

Provide a link to the webpage that contains your privacy policy. Adding a privacy policy to your app's store listing is required on both Google Play Store & Apple App Store, as it provides transparency about how you treat sensitive user and device data.

## 8. Request to publish app

When all is done, click on "**Request to publish app**" to let us know you're ready to publish your app! We'll get back to you within 24 hours with the final version of your app so you can review your app one last time before we submit them to your chosen app market (s).\
\
Please note that after sending the request, your app will enter **view-only mode** until after we've sent you the finalized app version, or after the app has been published successfully on all your chosen app markets.

## Addition Info

Google App review process normally takes 3 days. Certain apps may be subject to extended reviews, which may result in review times of up to 7 days or longer in exceptional cases.
